With the advent of the
"information society", Information Technology has come to play an integral role
as an enabler of business change.
While its people view
themselves first and foremost as business people, Pragmat has an impressive track record
in the creative application of Information Technology.
We
have positioned ourselves to bridge the gap which so often exists between
providers, whether external vendors or
internal IT departments, and consumers of technology products and
services, thus helping to eliminate common causes of project failure.
Pragmat is dedicated
to helping its customers to be successful by providing them with pragmatic, value-adding
solutions to their business problems.
We see this, quite
simply, as the only sure way to cement our own long-term success and prosperity. The
pursuit of this goal has led us to embrace a number of key values and guiding

Pragmatism
Our
focus is on practice rather than theory; although theory remains important in guiding our actions.
Thus, while our consultants take very much a "hands on" approach, it should come
as no surprise that they also hold formal academic qualifications in a wide range of
disciplines.
As our name suggests,
we rather deliver practical, workable solutions within realistic timeframes, than
strive indefinitely towards "grand visions" founded on uncertain or unattainable
ideals. It follows therefore, that the solutions we propose must be cost effective,

Achievement
Orientation
We pride ourselves on
delivering on-time, and in excess of our customers' expectations. There are no secrets to
turning this goal into a reality; just an unwavering focus on good planning, careful
change management and strong project management.
At Pragmat we package
our projects into manageable "chunks" to reduce the overall project risk, and to
ensure a steady flow of benefits to our clients. So that both parties understand what is
required of them, we work to written "scope" agreements setting out all
pertinent details of the project including clear criteria by which its success may be
measured.
No Pragmat consultant
is permitted to take sole responsibility for a work assignment. Even in small assignments,
we take a team-based approach to problem-solving to achieve a better result for the
client. Pragmat actively pursues a system of peer review in all of its projects to ensure
that high quality standards are maintained; that cross-fertilisation of ideas occurs; that projects
stay on track, and that the underlying purposes and premises remain sound. (top)
Continuous
Improvement
Pragmat believes in
knowledge transfer so that our clients may become independent, rather than seeking to
entrench ourselves in the client organisation. Our goal is to be able to confidently
"walk out the door" at the end of a project or assignment, leaving behind the tools and
techniques to enable the client to consolidate and build on our work.
Pragmat believes
in periodically rotating its consultants throughout its client base so that they continue
to broaden their experience and to bring fresh perspectives to the solution of clients'
problems. At the same time, we strive to cultivate within our staff the confidence and the
leadership skills to pursue their ideas for the benefit of the client. (top)
Relationship
Management
Pragmat is sensitive
to the needs of its customers, and so continually works to build its understanding of the
customer and their business. The relationship with each client is entrusted to one or more
Principal Consultants to ensure that customers always have a direct line of communication to
our management team.
We understand the
power of politics in the modern organisation and recognise the importance, as consultants,
of becoming aware of and accommodating internal political currents without becoming a part
of them. Understanding, and working within these currents is a vital element in planning
and managing change.
Pragmat's senior
consultants have all worked in both vendor and customer organisations, and we fully
understand the crucial role which strong supplier/customer relationships play in
successful projects. We therefore actively work to facilitate and strengthen such
relationships in the projects in which we are involved. (top)
