Tom Jensen

Tom Jensen primary role is as a Principal Consultant, specialising in the financial services industry. He also acts as Pragmat Consulting’s Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary.

Tom has a varied and balanced business background spanning three major career streams; accounting, information technology and marketing, over a twenty year period. He has brought this experience to bear on his consulting activities over the last eleven years.

Tom began his corporate career as a trainee accountant at Standard Telephones & Cables (now Alcatel). Six years later, having gained a thorough grounding in both financial and management accounting, he left the Company to become Financial Controller for Singer Australia subsidiary “TCC”, an importer and distributor of Panasonic and Mitsubishi computer systems.

Keen to gain formal exposure to large company marketing processes, Tom later joined mainframe supplier ICL Australia as Product Manager for Accounting, Finance and Retail Systems. In this position, Tom brought about a cultural ground-shift which led the Company to embrace third party software vendors as a significant new channel for hardware sales.

His ICL experience led Tom into a similar role at Prime Computer, from which he progressed to lead a team of Industry Marketing Managers. He left Prime to devote himself to full-time management studies before venturing into a consulting career.

Tom’s consulting interests include business improvement projects (with a focus on process engineering), feasibility studies, business case development, business planning, business analysis and the legal regulation of business.

Tom is a graduate of the universities of Queensland, New South Wales and New England, and holds degrees in Accounting, Marketing and Management. (top)
